Worth it

I eyeballed this for a while before pulling the trigger.
DEFINITELY optimized for Gadget but very usable with other DAWs.
I bought it specifically for Gadget and Nave.
Works flawlessly with most apps but BT does not autoconnect when switching between apps. It's a small thing but worth mentioning and a PITA. Switching might be an issue for some in a live performance situation.

Overall I love it - pads feel good, keys are surprisingly sensitive, battery life is good, extremely portable.

Good job Korg.

Works as intended

Plays well with others. No issues using with with Moog Model 15, Garage Band, or the many available Korg apps :)

Finally A Keyboard For Me

Keyboard control of features like chord & scale mode work so perfectly instead of relying on software, such as Komplete Kontrol. I couldn't recommend a better keyboard, also perfect for traveling.

Gadget Happy

I've been using this for a month now - in coffee shops, on planes, in waiting rooms. It is the perfect addition to my bag along with my iPad. It connects in seconds and gives instant control over Gadget so that I can be creative right away, and do it anywhere. (And for Gadgets with more than 8 pads, the keys work just as well for laying down parts - a nice plus)

It is capable of much more than how I have utilized so far, however it is a solid piece of gear for being so light and portable. I highly recommend picking this up if you use an iPad for making music. You won't be disappointed!

Perfect IOS Musician Gear

Great product that gives you ultimate portability and the Bluetooth LE compatibility needed to work wirelessly with IOS devices! Works perfectly with Korg's collection of versatile synth apps, and also with others (non-Korg).

What Do Our In-house Gear Experts Think?

Ash Grey

Any serious electronic musician knows you have to publish or perish, and with my 8–5 job and a family, I have to beg, borrow, or steal every opportunity I can to make music. That's why I bought my nanoKEY Studio, and I'm so glad I did. One reason I bought it is that I'd read that the nanoKEY Studio integrates perfectly with Korg's Gadget app, which is the single best electronic music platform for iOS, even more so if you use Ableton Live in your studio. Integration doesn't even cover it! With all of Gadget's critical commands at my fingertips, plus a cool multifunction X-Y pad, the nanoKEY Studio makes me feel like I can reach inside the app and grab hold of every detail — going beyond what I can get from my iPad's multi-touch screen or any conventional controller. All that said, the thing that has blown my mind the most has been the keys. I had extremely low expectations for these keys and their laptop-style scissors action. I was so wrong. For one thing, even with my massive hands and fingers, the keys feel smooth and the dynamic response is dynamite. In fact, I frequently find myself pushing keys gently to get ghost notes and subtle accents, or sliding my finger for glissando effects. Finally, despite how useful and playable it is, the nanoKEY Studio is about the size of my collapsible iPad stand and totally wireless. As a guy who finds himself laying down beats in the car while waiting for his daughter's dance class to let out, I can't imagine not having a nanoKEY Studio anymore.
