The Area 67 DP419 appeared on our recommended list for Budget Guitar Pickups in 2 consecutive editions from November 2020 until October 2022 when it was removed due to us deciding to no longer include single coil sized humbuckers.
Overview
The Area 67 pickup from DiMarzio is based off of the bright and clean single coils of 1967.
It is equipped with patented Area technology to eliminate hum without losing any output or chime.
Also, by using Alnico 2 magnets, there is much less magnet pull which improves string sustain and intonation allowing you to position this pickup closer to your strings without causing issues.
Artists like Paul Gilbert have used the Area 67 as a middle pickup, specifically in his signature guitar, the Ibanez FRM100 Fireman.
