Gearank Recommendation

We first recommended this in December 2017 in the category of “Line Array Systems”. We removed that category in August 2019 however the Bose F1 Model 812 made it onto our recommended list for Powered PA Speakers under $1500 at that time.

The category was changed to Powered PA Speakers under $1000 in October 2020 but this didn’t rank high enough to make it onto that list at the time.

In May 2021 it made it onto our recommended list for Powered PA Speakers under $2000 where it remained until March 2022 when it was again outranked by the JBL SRX835P and QSC KW153 and was removed from the list.

Overview

When you think Line Array systems, large open air festivals usually come to mind. Line arrays were designed to favor dispersion over volume.

A single driver that’s pushed with a lot of power will still experience volume drops the further you are from the source.

Line arrays have tweaked levels at every angle so sound gets distributed evenly.

Bose has taken line array principles and applied them to a portable powered speaker. The Bose F1 Model 812 is a compact, line array system with directional flexibility.

The speaker array consists of 8 x 2.25″ mid/HF drivers and a 12″ LF driver to provide wide dispersion angles.

It’s not just FOH engineers that use it, it has received many five star ratings from acoustic guitarists, keyboardists and other musicians, as well vocalists, event hosts and DJs.

If dispersion is your primary goal with a portable setup, the Bose F1 Model 812 is a standout option that solves that problem.
