Electro-Voice ZLX-12P 12" Powered PA Speaker - 1000W
Electro-Voice is known for providing speakers with good specs at a more affordable price point, and the ZLX-12P is a good example of how successful their strategy is.
It is well received for its versatile built-in DSP, which allows for tuning, limiting and crossover functions, allowing it to work as a FOH speaker or a stage monitor. It lets you tune your speaker for different applications via manual EQ or by using Mode and Location presets.
This digital brain controls the ZLX-12P's hardware components which include a 500W (Continuous RMS) amplifier, a 12" woofer and a 1.5" titanium compression driver, all of which work together to provide a versatile solution for various venues and events. Max SPL is 126dB, so these speakers are not meant to handle bigger venues by themselves, but should be good enough for most applications.
It also has limiter and crossover presets for better protection and pairing with subwoofers.

While there's really no extra or special features to speak off, the Electro-Voice ZLX-12P is known for doing what its supposed to do, and do so excellently. What we found are mostly favorable reviews, commending the unit for its transparent sound and great projection. And this is specially obvious for users who have set up the EV ZLX-12P as a floor wedge, they reported that the high headroom allows for a musically dynamic sound that inspires them to play better. From FOH for small venues, to floor monitors for bigger ones, many consider the ZLX-12P to be flexible and reliable. Even those who are skeptical find themselves liking the performance of this speaker after giving it a try. The ability to quickly tune the speaker for different venues have made this a favorite for mobile setups.
This speaker is a bit on the heavy side at 34.39 lbs, but it still relatively light when compared to other active speakers with 12" woofers. There were a few owners who reported that the exterior is easy to scratch, so they recommend careful handling. Of the few other complaints, we found that they are mostly about shipping damage that would be resolved through the retail store.
This is easily a good bang per buck powered stage monitor that should be looked at if you're looking for a reasonably priced 12" powered speaker.
Although this was previously on two of our recommended lists, and despite its continued good ratings from owners, there are now more highly rated options on the market which you will find in our guides to Powered PA Speakers and Stage Monitors.
